Hi there!
I created this card for the PTI Make It Monday Challenge #319 Graffiti Word Art:
Lexi Daly was the host this week for the challenge.
I have to admit that this was really hard for me! It took me forever to come up with anything.
I did know that I wanted to use this large word die from Sizzix/Stephanie Barnard. It actually says Happy Birthday but again it is really big so I wanted to use just Happy.
I die cut the word in white and created the first one using distress stains and embossing powder. I decided not to blend the letter like Lexi did because I couldn’t get it the way I wanted. I used Brushed off to create the Graffiti “look” – I was hoping for white paint dripping down the top. I am not sure I accomplished it, but I definitely tried!
In this photo you can see the rejected words:
Even though this was challenging, I did enjoy playing with some inks!!
After choosing one, I decided to back it with a black shadow of the word to act as an outline.
I embossed Stars onto the white paper because it was a little plain but I didn’t want to overpower the sentiment. I ran the paper through 3 times placing the clusters of Small Sketched Stars in random spots.
This was added to black card stock:
The next step was embossing the Pure Poppy card stock base:
I chose lines to add some more texture and interest:
Here is a close up shot of the finished card. I embossed Birthday in white on black card stock.
Thanks Lexi and PTI for pushing me out of my comfort zone this week!
