Hi there!
I created two cards today for the PTI Make It Monday #316 Stenciled Edges challenge.
Lizzie Jones had a great video this week showing us how to use stencils on the edges of your card to add some interest.
It is Spring Break at my house this week so I had some time to play around with this technique. I took a while to stamp and die cut a lot of flowers and stems from Gran’s Garden.
On this card, I did a little sponging around the edges with a light blue and then added a large die cut and a diagonal strip of paper to be a base for my flowers.
On my second card, I added some more detail by using Transfer Gel and Deco Foil from Thermoweb.
Using a Papertrey stencil, I added a thin layer on the edges of a piece of white card stock. This gel goes on white, but after you let it dry it turns clear:
Then you place a piece of Decofoil on top and run it through your laminator (this picture is gold that I used for another project):
You end up with this below. You can make it perfect if you want by taking your time. I intentionally left it a little distressed by not filling in every part of the stencil. The Deco Foil sticks to where you have gel:
I die cut a piece of Lilac Grace Bitty Big paper using the Mix and Mat Herringbone set.
I wanted to soften the card some so I cut a circle of vellum as the base for my bouquet of flowers.
Then I stamped the sentiment using Archival Black ink (while saying a prayer I didn’t smudge it too much – can I get an Amen??).
The sentiment was last and took me FOREVER to figure out. Haha! Everything was flowing until then… I die cut the Kindness word several times until I chose the mirrored silver card stock. However, it didn’t fit quite right so I need to give it a base to sit on. I chose to cut a piece of Amethyst Allure. I thought it needed a little something so I quickly sponged Pale Plum ink using a stencil.
The sentiment was added and that was it! You can see a little of the purple shade of the foil in this picture bit it is hard to capture:
I had so much fun doing this challenge, thanks Lizzie!
Have a great day.
I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Tic Tac Toe Challenge # 041 – I am doing the far right column top to bottom
So pretty, those stamped flowers are gorgeous !
