Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #290 Stenciling and Masking

Hello and Happy Saturday!

I created a card for the Papertrey Ink Make It Monday #290 Stenciling and Masking challenge.

Betsy has a great video this week sharing this technique.

I stuck down a piece of Bristol paper onto a cricut mat (great idea, Betsy!) and covered the paper with  the open rectangle stencil from the MIM Herb Garden. I love this stencil.  The second stencil in the kit is similar but a circle shape. Incredibly versatile!

I blended the background using Scattered Straw from Tim Holtz Distress. I stamped the images next but I messed up some at the bottom. The stencil is pretty thick and I didn’t apply enough texture.  So, I did it again!!! Sometimes you it takes more than one try to get something right!

I cut the image out using one of the frames from the Mix and Mat Series. This was added to a piece of yellow card stock.

The card base is Pinefeather (I love this green!) and I added a lighter green die cut of a Papertrey ink cover plate.

I went really old school and tied the twine around the edges. I used to wrap all my grandfather’s Christmas gifts for him and he taught me to run the ribbon around like this. I would always see this done at the fancy department stores when they used to wrap gifts. Funny what memories come to mind when I craft….

Anyway, I stamped the sentiment and popped it all up on the card.

Thanks for stopping by!!

I am entering this card in the SSS Wednesday Challenge Summer Sunshine.
