Make It Monday #265 Layered Dry Brushing Technique

This week’s Make It Monday #265 Challenge from Papertrey Ink is from Lizzie Jones featuring the technique called “layered dry brushing.”

I haven’t tried this technique before. I didn’t have a paint brush handy so I used my Tim Holtz Splatter Brush. It has synthetic bristles that you can use to flick paint and create cool designs.

I applied different colors of distress paints to the brush and painted my watercolor paper. This brush didn’t hold much paint at all so it went pretty quickly. I used candied Apple, tarnished brass, silver and lucky clover.

While the paper was drying, I worked on the Christmas tree.

I added several pieces of washi tape to white cardstock and cut the tree out using The Polka Dot Parade #9 Die.

I cut the tree out again, this time using Vintage Jadeite cardstock and then I layered those pieces in the cardstock.

The sentiments that I used came from the newest Make it Market Kit, Parcel and Post.

This was fun technique I will try again.

Thanks for stopping by!
