Hello there!
I created this card for this week’s Make It Monday # 255 String Art Using Die Cuts challenge.
The challenge is to create string art using die cuts. In a Paper grab bag from Papertreyink I received a retired set that included a binder with lots of printed items you can hand cut. It also includes color recipes so I decided to use some flowers that featured pink and orange.
I hand cut 3 different size flowers and wrapped copper metallic thread around each one. My pattern was very random. I just kept wrapping until I liked what I saw.
Next I die cut some stitched squares out of white and berry sorbet. I decided to use a stencil on the white to soften it up a bit. I water colored on top of the stencil and dried the paper. It turned out a bit like the reverse stencil challenge from a few weeks ago.
I wanted to watercolor on the green card stock but that didn’t work out so I decided to sponge Tim Holtz distress ink on it using the same stencil.
I popped up all the flower layers and die cut some leaves in the kit. I sponged them with green to make them have some depth.
I was ready to assemble my card and I decided to go completely crazy and move the squares to the bottom right off center. That left a lot of berry sorbet so I pulled out this beautiful metallic watercolor and flicked it all over.
After drying the paper, I stamped the sentiment and attached the flowers to the card stock layers.
Here is a closeup of the metallic water color – it is made by Zig.

The finished product!
This was a very fun challenge.
Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day.
