Hello all!
I have been working on teachers gifts the last week for Teacher Appreciation week I wanted to share the final product.
During Papertreyink’s latest release I fell in love with the Stitched Rectangle Tray Die and coordinating Stitched Monogram Frame Die.
To create teacher gifts, I began by die cutting two pieces of felt from the rectangle tray using red and yellow felt. These are the colors of my daughters’ school. I also ran the yellow piece through again with the monogram frame die to add the amazing pattern.
I stitched it up using red embroidery floss.
Once all those were complete, I added some buttons. You need 8 for each red base so I had to use an assortment of different buttons.
When it was time to assemble the pieces, I ran a piece of scrap chipboard through my machine again with the tray die. I cut just inside the holes to create pieces to insert between the felt as I sewed to give it some rigidity.
I sewed a simple running stitch around and then backtracked to give a nice finished look.
Now onto the gift cards….
Hero Arts just released a new monthly kit and it was perfect for this project!
The My Monthly Hero kit includes an awesome gift card die. It cuts and scores the gift card shape and has a slit on the back so it is self closing, no adhesive required to seal it, Genius!
I made several of these and used the coordinating “Thank you” die to cut the words out of foam. I attached these to the front of the card holder and added gold foil. These were so quick and easy using patterned paper.
I placed the cards in the tray and insert them into a cellophane bag and finished by adding a yellow ribbon.
It did take a while to stitched the intricate frame on the yellow felt, but I did them all watching TV at night so I felt somewhat productive!
The end result was so worth and can we ever do enough for our teachers??? I don’t think so.
They give so much time and energy to our children and I can’t ever thank them enough for what they do.
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
