Hello!
Today I created a card for the Simon Says Stamp Blog Monday Challenge: Butterfly Beauty.
I recently received the new Tim Holtz Butterflies dies and I have been looking forward to working with them.
I had some Distress stains on my desk and put some Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet on watercolor paper. I added some water and dried with my heat gun. Then I sprayed the paper with a purple Mica spray from Dylusions. It was very subtle but very pretty.
I die cut 2 butterflies and a helpful tip is to use wax paper or die release paper . I prefer Kaisercraft Die Release Paper that I found online at Joann’s. It works really well and it is pretty, too! It works great with intricate dies like these.
I stamped a sentiment in the middle and stopped there. It took me a while to make a final decision on how to finish the card. I thought about water coloring the sentiment with an orange/yellow wash to add some warmth to the coolness of the butterflies. I left to go pick up my children from school and when I returned I decided to just add some watercolor splatter and attach them.
These dies are so stunning by themselves and I wanted to use them to frame the sentiment.
I finished by adding 3 bubble bling from Queen & Co.
